calling all fitness junkies

Recently went to Florida for Spring Break with the girls. Had an absolutely wonderful time. The location was gorgeous and the weather was more perfect than we could have dreamed. But, do you know what it takes to get a girl ready for swimwear season? In March? Whew! Talk about hitting the gym hard. Thankfully all that hard work paid off and once again ready for swimsuit season. Well, as ready as one can really be. Women will always find our own flaws and wish there were things they could improve...
One thing I did notice. Trying to lift my teeny-tiny-skinny-a-rail child, I got her lifted up but only for a brief second. The aftermath left us both eating sand! I have got to get some upper body strength. I have tried and tried to build upper body strength but something just isn't working. Lower body, better than good. Upper, not so good. Frustrating.
Even on vacation I try to sneak in exercise but it has to be FUN outdoor exercise, no gym. Everyone is thrilled. I mean, look at that excited face on CB. She can barely contain her enthusiasm. I keep telling her that "one day" she will thank me for making exercise a part of her lifestyle. That and all the other things I tell her she will be thankful for!
So, what about all of you fitness junkies out there? What advice would you give? The typical eat right and exercise are already covered. However, are there particular foods or exercises that really work for you?
Oh, and any advice you'd like to throw in on how to make your teens grateful...well, nevermind ;)

travel. it's an adventure.

One of the things I love to do the most is travel. We have such a beautiful country! We could travel our lifetime and yet still have uncovered American territory to discover. I admit I do not like the packing part. Ugh. However, once the bags are packed and I am setting out...the adventure begins.
It seems I have been traveling a lot lately. And, I find myself once again heading out on the open road tomorrow. Beach bound. It looks to be a fantastic day for travel. I will be up bright and early, ready to go!

What about you? What are or have been your most treasured placed in our country to visit?
Here are a few pictures from some of my recent travels. So, until I get back, enjoy!

girls just wanna have fun

Monday morning, February 14th, the girls woke up to their traditional Valentine's Day celebration. A dining room full of hearts. Pink, red, and white...balloons, heart plates and cups, tablecloth with hearts, heart shaped muffins, heart shaped pancakes and sausage, heart shaped boxes full of chocolates...and small gifts of love specially picked for each girl.
Minus the getting up early because it was a school day, my girls have embraced the day. They are sure to be Valentine junkies just like their mom. They dressed all out for the day, even with red hair coloring! I love it!!

With some time left before school and an unusually warm day, the girls enjoyed messing around and acting goofy outside. I enjoyed watching them have fun. Silly, girl fun. Man, I love the sound of them laughing!

Finally, I was able to get them to settle down enough for a "real" picture. Beauty at its best!

The older we get, nothing really changes. Being a grown woman doesn't mean we like to have fun any less! Sometimes I think when grown women get together, they can cut up even worse. I am going to get to see that thought in action. My mom and I, and a couple of girlfriends are heading to the beach tomorrow for a week. Aaaah! Girl time. Grown-up girl time. And the best part is having that time at the beach!
!

Gonna open the sunroof, roll down the windows, let our hair fly around, crank up some tunes..and have some FUN!

gettin' it off my chest

Gah! Ever just need to say something and get it off your chest??
Rarely do I get mad "publicly"...it really takes a lot. I am just not that kind of person. It takes a lot to even make me mad. However, I do have a "look" that people close to me know. To most it may seem like a "thinking" look...like this:

But today, you might would see me with an outright scowl. Grrr! Gonna get it off my chest. So, here is what is on my mind today:
"Dear Christian-Who-Thinks-They-Are-Perfect: By your very unforgiving and snotty nature, that makes you...guess what? NOT PERFECT!"
That's it. All I gotta say. If you think this is intended for you... then it probably is.
